 Supporting Skills, Employment and Opportunity in North Kent 

The Learning Shop is a long-standing partnership between Bluewater, North Kent Colleges Group and the Department for Work and Pensions. As the only centre of its kind in North Kent, it plays a key role in connecting people with training, employment and career opportunities.

Established in 1999, The Learning Shop has supported thousands of individuals into work, while helping businesses access skilled, work-ready candidates. 

What We Offer 

The Learning Shop provides a wide range of services designed to support both individuals and employers:

  • Professional training for schools, colleges, businesses and individuals 
  • Employment support and job search guidance 
  • Business support and workforce development solutions 

As the official Bluewater job site, The Learning Shop processes around 57,000 job applications each year and supports over 10,000 registered job seekers annually. 

Training and Workshops

The team delivers practical, hands-on training through one-to-one support and group workshops, including:

  • Employability skills training 
  • CV writing and interview techniques 
  • “Working at Bluewater” workshops 
  • Visual merchandising 
  • Bespoke customer service training for businesses 

These sessions are designed to build confidence, develop workplace skills and improve job prospects. 

Supporting Students and Young People 

The Learning Shop works closely with North Kent Colleges Group and local schools to support young people into employment.

  • Over 100 North Kent College students are supported into work each year 
  • Students from Years 10–13 are given guidance, training and access to opportunities  

Bluewater Job Fairs 

The Learning Shop also organises Bluewater’s annual job fairs, bringing together employers and job seekers in one place.

  • 40+ employers attend 
  • Over 2,500 job seekers each year 
  • More than 500 vacancies filled 

These events are a key part of the local recruitment landscape.
